In those years I have been using Peachtree Complete Accounting as my software of choice to run my business. Over the winter I changed over to another software manufacturer that is more suited to my OPE specific needs. That company is Small Engine Software and they are located in Grand Saline, TX. There are several reasons I opted for this new software program...one big one was that my computer had conflicts with 2006 Peachtree. Next I was darn tired of paying $150.00 a year to “update” my software when the majority of the updates were for items I never used in their program. The price is very attractive as for a LIFETIME LICENSE you pay a ONE TIME fee of $299.00!You have your choice of over 100 price files you can download for a nominal fee of $120 per year. If you need a workstation instead of a stand alone program you can purchase this for only $99.00 more. SES is dealer friendly and more important industry specific to our OPE businesses. It is very easy to operate with the online manuals so easy to read and understand. It works well with Windows XP as well as earlier versions of Windows. An added bonus to me was the look and feel of a DOS program. The menus are easy to navigate and most things are self explanatory. Don’t just take my word for it! Roger Stewart, the SLDN editor, has put a lot of thought and work into the newsletters as well as his web site which is found at www.sldnnews.com. There you can find parts look up sources for most everything produced, Industry notes and links, better yet, obsolete parts sources as well as a Distributor Directory and Buyers Guide. You can perhaps get lost for hours reading in the What Ever Happened To? & History Of? section. Finally a sort of score card to know who is where doing what and when did it go south guide. If you subscribe to SLDN you will get a rare form of humor along with telling it like it is in OPE world. When my Newsletter gets here I sit down and read it cover to cover as soon as possible.
