Logical question, deserving a valid answer. Alone as a single shop, even if you do over a million a year in business, are you forced to just “comply” with the status quo in our business transactions with warranty, insurance issues, problems that might arise with OEMs or Distributors? One voice obviously does not make a thundering sound considering the other 20,000 or so shops across the nation. BUT united with all of us working on the same page together, who can ignore us?

Several years back OEMs and Distributors asked us “What do dealers want and need”? Not being shy, we took surveys and responded. The wonderful part is those same OEMs and Distributors listened to us and dialogue is now open.

News and plans, and yes, your complaints are voiced regularly by NIDA in the major trade magazines. Follow up is given when a problem arises between dealer and OEM or Distributor and solutions agreeable to all sides are found. NIDA is represented at EXPO and the GIE shows. We have started a campaign to get the AHP Bill passed. (Small Business Health Fairness Act to obtain more affordable health benefits for working families.)

The second huge benefit is being able to share with fellow dealers in open communication. Find out what does and does not work for them. Increase your profit margins by implementing proven strategies others have found successful. Overstocked on parts or whole goods? List them on our Bulletin Board to clear your shelves or list them in our free classifieds. Need an obsolete part, list that too and dealers across the nation could get that part in your hands. Don’t stock all the lines? A fellow dealer who does can sell you that part for 1/2 cost + 10% and shipping. We all win.
